At Allan Bush Investment Team, we believe in the power of community and work hard to find meaningful ways to impact the individuals and families around us positively. We search for local charities and causes that fulfill basic needs and find ways to enhance the human experience.

We're currently rising to the challenge with the Food Bank of Waterloo Region's "Full Bellies Happy Hearts" campaign from June 1st until the end of August. Since the campaign's inception, Allan Bush Investment Team has committed to match all donations to ensure we give twice as many meals to kids this summer. Our ultimate goal? To be instrumental in eliminating food insecurity in our community. Here's a little more on "Full Bellies Happy Hearts" and how to get involved.

• a record 2 million meals were collected last year
• nearly 35,000 people accessed emergency food assistance over the previous year
• 14,000 kids are seeking food assistance
• 35% of participants are children
• a 44% rise in food bank access by employed adults since 2020
• 592,000 adults and children accessed the food bank in one year

Food banks nationally have seen a consistent increase over the last few months in those accessing food assistance for the first time. With the rising cost of living and food, there's an expectation to see record numbers again this fall. This initiative runs through the summer months to combat food insecurity children face without access to school-run breakfast and lunch programs. But hunger never takes a summer vacation.

Hunger is an ever-growing issue, and it's clear that when we come together as a community, we can help make a positive movement forward.
